A custom type system for a newspaper

LudwigType designed a comprehensive type system for the daily newspaper Weser Kurier consisting of serif and sans serif fonts. The serif contains optical variants for headline and small body text, as well as a condensed version for narrow columns. The entire type system consists of 30 different fonts, optimally adapted to the complex typography and relatively poor printing conditions of a newspaper. Read more on our blog.

This custom typeface was designed for the Finnish watchmaker Sarpaneva. The wide and open forms evolved from the client’s need to engrave text as small as 2mm high throughout their watches.

In line with the new corporate design for a German building center, LudwigType designed a custom typeface consisting of three variations: the standard and condensed widths, used for text, while an outlined variation is perfect for headlines.
