Custom Timepieces
Few brands have shaped modern design as profoundly as Braun. Guided by the principle of “less, but better,” Braun’s products embody clarity, precision, and timeless functionality — qualities that continue to define its design language today.
When Braun commissioned LudwigType to design a bespoke corporate typeface, the challenge was to capture the brand’s characteristic balance of restraint and precision. Among the design tasks, special attention was paid to the numerals — because in Braun’s products, numbers are not decorative; they are functional. They need to be clear, modern, and easily distinguishable (and therefore legible).
I’m pleased to share that several Braun clocks and watches are now equipped with our custom numerals. These timepieces carry forward Braun’s heritage of disciplined design: minimalist, legible, and durable. The BC22 classic alarm clock, for example, inherits its silhouette from Dieter Rams’ 1984 AB 2 model, maintaining the clean dial, contrast, and legibility that typify Braun’s visual identity. New Braun watches are also being introduced — including Swiss-made limited editions — that continue this tradition of clarity and purpose.
